Yet Another Friday

Yet another frenzied Friday update. One week from now we should be in U.S. airspace, if not already on American soil. We’re very excited. I’m probably not going to update the Molliblog from the states because I’m not entirely sure I’d be able to and because we’ll only be there for 10 days anyway, so I’ll just have one long-ass Vacation Blog to post when we get back.

There was football last Sunday night. The Super Bowl party was at Uffe’s. He did a hell of a job—borrowed a projector from work, made buffalo wings and nachos, and all that. I got there at about 11:30 and left around four in the morning.

Here’s Uffe and Jesper before the game. (Yes, Uffe is a genuine Bengals fan.)

Molli obviously didn’t make the game, but she couldn’t wait to get online and see the results on Monday.

Thursday our friend Jesper was in town and came over for a few hours, and he’s now the second non-blood relation from America to have held Molli… and the second foreign-born national in that category. (David K. is an American citizen now, but he was an Irish citizen until a couple of years ago, and Jesper is actually a Dane who lives in Manhattan.)

There’s not much to say about the following series, except that we’re trying to build a Molli portfolio (yes, let’s pile our shattered dreams of stardom onto her). I was basically just horsing around with Molli and the camera and somehow took about 80 pictures this morning. These are some of them.

Later in the day I gave her a hunk of rye bread to see what she’d do with it. It’s not rye as you know it in America: it’s Danish rye, heavy and packed with all kinds of seeds. (Trine told me this evening I should have been using seedless rye, but Molli seemed to enjoy the seeds right up until she choked on them, so I don’t know…)

She did with the rye what she does with pretty much everything else: picked it up, looked it over, then shoved it in her mouth. But here sat daddy beside her, and he wasn’t pulling it out! Most of it ended up on her clothes, the chair, the table, the floor, and her face, but I’m pretty sure she did manage to swallow a few little nibbles. She’ll be ready for those Cheerios, farmor, rest assured.

That’s it. I like to think I’ll be able to post a few pics before we head out next week, but you can see how well my optimism has been serving me so far.

Looking very much forward to showing my daughter my country, and the rest of my family, and still sort of weirded out that I should have to say such a thing…

  1. What fabulous fotos! I love the way you got all of Molli’s reactions to the bread. It doesn’t look like she was too crazy about rye. Maybe onion or garlic???
At this time next week she’ll be eating our cheerios – or something. I can hardly wait. I just don’t want to wish the time away too quickly or you’ll be gone at the blink of an eye.
    Love you.

  2. Great Pictures! Can you email the green hat picture to me where she is not smiling but looking at the camera? I love that picture!
I can’t believe I finally get to see her in one week! I am so excited!
I just want to say again how much I love seeing Molli in the girls old clothes, especially that hat!
It really touches me to see those beloved clothes be worn again on our beloved niece!
    Just one more week.
