It has been so, so hard with Molli the last 24 hours. We gave in to her pressure and let her take a meal at 4:30 last night, but she wouldn’t nap much today and didn’t seem interested in any of the many food options I presented her with… until, on the advice of Anne Greve, we fell back on good old rice porridge which she stuffed herself with three times this afternoon and evening. (Along with real food from Trine and some mashed potatoes at dinner.)
I’m spent, but feel badly about your not being able to share the food adventure. So here goes.
Mormor’s come by a few times this week to help with Molli… and has seen her eating habits first-hand.
Those habits are not delicate ones, and Molli always seems to end up with a goatee when I feed her.
The one thing she loves to drink the most is water. She takes it from a little egg-holder. Here she is about to enjoy a refreshing drink.
And here you can see just how refreshed she obviously feels afterward.
She made such a filthy mess of herself this afternoon when she finally ate a full meal of porridge that I had to bathe her and change her at about 4:00. Once she was clean she became angelic.
So she eats like a pig… but she must be a flying pig, because her predominant instinct when lying down now is to try for liftoff.
God save us if she ever gets airborne, though, because she seems to dream of being a flying attack pig…
Sometimes the girl gets mashed potatoes…
…and sometimes the potatoes get the girl:
Good night!
Okay, so let me get this straight. You move Molli to a crib one night, the next night you start sleep training with her and the next day Trine starts back to work??? And you wonder why Molli is having a difficult time???
The poor child. Her world has gone upside down and now your making it go backwards too??? As a VWP I recommend that you give up the sleep training for now. Let her nurse as much as she wants at night until she is secure with the new situation around her. Then, you won’t need to worry about her eating so much during the day. It will suck (literally) for Trine for a while, but Molli needs to be made feel secure with Trine gone all day. Anyway, that’s my 2 cents do what you want with it. You’ll all survive this somehow!
Gene may not remember but I certainly do. It is a very difficult period, but Molli is going to go through a lot of changes in the next few months and you are going to have to pick your battles.
Good Luck with whatever you chose!
Deb
great pictures! i know that hannah and sophie must have had similar food adventures when they were babies, but it’s hard to remember them now (Deb probably remembers better than I do, as she does with most things!). Which is to say that as hard as things may seem now, it will pass (only to give way to new challenges, alas). now, if we could only get the kids to clean their room more often…
What wonderful pictures I cannot wait to feed Molli in person.
