The pusling visit was as soothing as always. The nurse said Molli had been wide awake and very active earlier in the morning, so she was a little sedate for us (once she got over an opening crying jag). Very quiet, precious, and sleepy as we “tended” and weighed her.
She’s gained 25-35 grams, or about an ounce, since Monday—I’m not sure because she weighed in at 1970 grams gross, versus 1945 gross on Monday, but she didn’t have her IV-thing on today so the deduction to her net weight would have been smaller. Actual weight gain is 25 grams plus the weight of the IV-thing.
Here’s a very flatting picture of me and Molli last night:
Believe it or not, I still do have an actual chin and jaw—though you wouldn’t know it! Here’s Molli relaxing on the scale while we weighed her this morning:
And here’s a shot that’s only intended to show off her golden locks:
The struggling baby I mentioned this morning wasn’t in our room today, and his absence hit me like a hammer in the gut. I didn’t dare ask anyone, but later I saw his parents fretting about in the hallway, and as anxious as they looked I was happy to see they weren’t grieving. The poor, poor family. God.
Molli was actually crying when we got to her—not preemie crying, but full-throated, full-lunged wailing. We felt bad for her, of course, but were also both thrilled to hear such healthy cries. She simmered down pretty quickly, as I mentioned, and only let out one or two howls during my 80 minutes with her (I don’t think she cried at all with Trine—is it too early for parental jealousies to arise?).
We got a couple of fun videos this morning, but they’re bigger than usual—about 6MB each, I think: one of Trine “combing” Molli’s hair (i.e., dragging a comb across her little head), and one of Trine carrying our daughter from the scale back to the incubator. They’re both cute. I’ll figure out the best way to set them up for downloading later: right now I need to run a few errands, get Trine dropped off at the swimhall for a massage, and actually try to slog through some of my work-related emails. Then we’re having dinner at Vibeke’s at 6pm and planning to make Molli’s 8pm feeding.
I can see what you mean about Molli having your ears Greg. Luckily she’s a girl and can have long hair 🙂
