Well, at long last I’ve had time to throw a video of the summer together. There was over 30 minutes of raw footage, most of it in 10-15 second chunks, so I realized a proper editing job would either be too selective or would take me months of stolen time. So I used Pinnacle’s “SmartMovie” feature: you plop all your clips into the timeline, you drop in a couple of songs, you indicate the general pace and style you want, you decide if you want the videos taken in order or randomly and whether you want the finished product to include at least one clip from every video, and then the software does the editing for you. (It takes a while, but nowhere near as long as a human edit would take.)
So… it’s not my proudest piece of work because it’s not my work, but it covers the whole vacation and on balance I think it’s a lot of fun. It’s a 143MB wmv file, so just right click the image below to get started!
(From now on I’m posting videos on my Dropbox public folder rather than my Justmorons site because there’s no bandwidth limit on Dropbox. So don’t be surprised that the links look different than they have in the past.)
Note that it does not include video from Thunder Bay. The only clips from Canada have already been (manually) compiled into a cool little video you can download here. (55MB, .wmv format.) It walks you through the whole process of turning a tree into an ice-cream stick.
OK, so now I’m caught up with the past, so next week I can get caught up on September and October. Then blam — Halloween, Thanksgiving, Maddie’s birthday, Christmas, and New Year’s. Good thing I never take any pictures around those times of year or I’d probably fall even further behind…
