Second Wednesday

Maddie is doing great at Glostrup!

I got to spend most of the morning with her today. That included the morning pusling, so I got to change her diaper and “clothing,” wash her, and feed her. She woke up for about half an hour at one point, and we had a wonderful time checking each other out. Her hair is getting fairer, her eyes are getting bluer, and she looks more and more like a tiny human being and less and less like a weird reptilian alien every day.

She weighed 1365 grams this morning, so the upward trend continues.

Also, no one can tell me she wasn’t smiling at me here.

And here… well, she’s tired of smiling.

FWIW, this is the pediatric and delivery wing of Glostrup hospital. Maddie is up on the sixth floor, on the other side of the building. (The sixth floor is the one just below the top floor.)

Another big milestone today: she is off the chemical feedbags (“Infumix”) and partial feedings and is now taking full doses of Trine’s milk via her nose tube (yuck) and digesting almost all of it.

She is the most amazing three pounds of meat you ever saw.

Hannah, Molli Malou got your note and loved it and wanted to write back and tell you that she wants to come and visit you, but that it’s so far to America, but maybe you can come here like you said. She also wanted to send three kisses to you and Sophie and tell you “love love love Molli Malou the big sister.”

But we didn’t have time to write tonight and now she’s been up coughing for three hours and God knows when she’ll find the time to, er, dictate her letter to me again. So there it is, for you and everyone.

We are all thinking of Great Grandma.
