A full-blown post with pictures and everything coming up this weekend, hopefully, but first I wanted to be sure last night’s breaking news got its place in the record.
What I wrote on Facebook was:
And as I noted about in a comment posted about sixty seconds later, no sooner had I entered the above into my phone and clicked the send button than Maddie followed up with a second round — this time without bothering about any potty. Comedy gold.
In any case, big sister was an early toilet trainee and she went off diapers at about 2½. Maddie is still 4 months shy of that mark, but we suspect this is more than a flash-in-the-pan (which was the case when she first peed in her potty a few months ago). We now let her run around without a diaper in the house, and she will only pee in her potty or the toilet when she’s awake. If she pees in her diaper at night, or while napping, she’ll make a pretty loud case to have her diaper removed as soon as she wakes up. Bottom line: she doesn’t like wearing a diaper much any more, and simply refuses to wear one as soon as it’s been soiled. I can actually imagine her being out of diapers by the end of March. Good girl!
The one wildcard is what they’re doing with her at vuggestue — I told them on Monday that she was likely to undress from the waist down and yell for a potty whenever she wanted to pee, but I’m not sure they believed me. We’ll have to be more aggressive with them on Monday.
Healthwise, she’s eating more and seems to be recovering nicely from her strepped throat, and Trine is close to full recovery from her 1-2 punch of pneumonia-plus-strepped-throat. (Yes, she had both, but it was the former that caused the real problems.)
Thanks for doing an update. I really look forward to them. AML Dad (pop-pop to some)
