First things first. Our new apartment is on Holger Danskesvej. If you’re walking up Godthåbsvej from Vibeke & Jørgen’s old place toward the svømmehal, you’d take a left just a block before it. Then you’d go two little blocks in that direction, turn to your left, and be looking at this:
The building on the right with the gray facade is where we’ll be living, up on what we’d call the third floor but Danes call the third:
I did take a lot of indoor shots, but none of them came out especially well. I also took a video “tour,” but it’s quite large and probably not worth your while.
We also got a passable shot of myself with the barn on Halloween… I thought it was important to get a shot of her before we started stuffing her into costumes.
The first step was getting her into the pumpkin sweater, which she obviously enjoyed:
We took it as a good omen and got her into the pumpkin right away—and the smile remained!
Unfortunately she couldn’t go trick-or-treating, because they don’t do that here and taking her around to ask people for candy for a girl we’d dressed as a pumpkin probably would have landed us in some kind of protective custody.
Then, today, Molli got the first mail ever from her cousins! She was so excited she tried to open the envelope all by herself:
But we had to give her a little help in the end. She was very excited to see the colorful pictures her cousins had sent her! She loves them so much and can’t wait to meet them!
If you’re wondering about her various scratches, they’re all our fault. We went too long between nail clippings again. If you’re wondering why she’s wearing the same outfit in photographs from yesterday and today, it’s because I’m a big liar. We didn’t dress her up yesterday. I was still recovering from a bad bout of headaches Saturday night, Trine was running a high fever, and Molli was cranky about something all day—and articulating her unhappiness with the shrill new shriek she’s acquired. We all felt better today, though, so that’s when we took all the pictures. That much said, kindly forget I said anything. Molli never has to know she wasn’t dressed up as a pumpkin for her first Halloween!
As for the lion outfit, that’s still going to fit on fastelavn (Shrovetide) so she’ll debut it then (February 6)… when other little Danish kids are running around in costumes, too.
What a cute little pumpkin! She looks so happy to be in her little pumpkin clothes. That sweater should fit her next year too. I think it is a size 18 months. Actually, if you want to know the truth I think Sophie wore it too pre-school last year. It’s very stretchy!
I’m so glad that Molli got her letters. Did you know that Sophie made them all? She wanted Molli to have Holiday decorations for every Holiday this fall (and xmas). She wishes desperately that she could be with her for all these holidays but maybe we’ll celebrate Valentines four days late next year so the girls can celebrate with her.
We have our halloween pictures posted now so check them out.
