We’re in the middle of packing and all that, but this was too exciting to skip over… especially because I’ll be without home Internet access from Monday morning for about 10-12 days. But look what we got in the mail today!
Look closer!
I’m no longer the only American I know in Frederiksberg!
We also got her American passport. The only thing we seem to be missing is her social security number, so I guess our hopes of getting her to earn a little holiday money are dashed.
Anyway, it’s very exciting. And as long as I’m in here for what’ll probably be the last update for a week or two, I should mention that Molli rolled on her own again yesterday—and this time in Trine’s presence (while I was at school and they were back at the new apartment). Unfortunately, Trine was reading to her and didn’t notice until she looked up from her book and saw Molli lying on her back, giggling merrily.
Molli has also started making the raspberry sound—which I usually spell “phhhlt” or “pffffft,” depending. It’s facilitated by the vast reserves of drool she’s been summoning forth. She’s still mostly making vowel sounds, but her gibberish sounds more like human conversation (in some semi-Hawaiian language) every day—that is, less screamy, more babbley. The other day while we were prepping her for her bath I could have sworn I heard her say, quite clearly, “I was John.” I was stunned.
“Did you hear that?” I asked Trine.
“Yeah,” Trine said, sounding a little less impressed. “She said, ‘ya yaaa yaan.'”
Anyway, I have to resume packing now. I’ll try to throw a few photos up tomorrow night, but if I run out of time please forgive me… and I guess I won’t be able to resume the Molli blog until about a week before Christmas.
Congratulations to Molli. Now the decision is hers which to choose. All the best with the move.
Hi,
Just a note to let you know I read the blog and am delighted to see that Molli Malou Kammer Nagan is now a U.S. citizen. Can hardly wait to welcome her personally into her new country.
And I’m so glad you now know another american, Greg!
I’ll miss your writing over the next few weeks but wish you all the best in your move.
All my love,
FarMor
