I’m getting the sense that no amount of Molliness is going to be enough to fill the appetites of her American relations, so I thought I’d go a little nuts today.
First a little update: Molli had her first laughing fit today. She’s been smiling from day one and laughing for a month or so, but Mormor came by today and while Trine held Molli face-out Mormor tried to elicit some smiles from Molli, since Trine and I had been bragging about how happy and smiley she’d been all day. Whatever Mormor did, she was rewarded for her efforts with the biggest explosion of laughter Molli’s ever exhibited. Aunt Deb may remember the laughing fit I incited in Hannah during my first visit… it was like that. Molli just got a knockout fit of the giggles. It was the most fantastic thing I’ve ever seen. I got some video, but only the last few seconds of it. I can email it if you want to see it. I got two still pictures, and they’re down at the bottom of this Mollipalooza.
Also, Molli likes jazz. Old school. One of the reasons she was so smiley and happy with me while Trine was up in Farum this morning, I think, is that I was playing some old jazz. The minute she heard Ella singing “The Lady is a Tramp,” Molli just lit up. On the other hand, I suppose anyone who doesn’t light up when they hear Ella simply isn’t light-up-able. She also seemed partial to Dinah Washington and Duke Ellington. Coltrane, Miles, Bird, Getz, and Peterson entertained her, but didn’t get her hopping.
And I finally converted her latest measurement while I was on the phone with Farmor, aunt apparently 61cm is about 24.4 inches, so she’s over the two-foot mark. Getting long and lean, as you can see in one of the photos below.
Not much else to say about her, and no real reason to since you just want to see the damn pictures, so here they are:
We’ll start with her first story-time: Trine reading to her from Uhm! siger Buller, a “crinkly” soft book in which Buller the bear eats various foods.
She actually did seem absorbed by the book:
Here’s the full body shot I was referring to. You can see how a lot of the belly fat has melted away. Her limbs still have that stuffed-sausage chubbiness, but she no longer looks like she’s been drinking a twelve-pack a day.
Another bath shot—it’s not especially flattering, but I don’t suppose any of us look particularly dignified when someone’s splashing our face with a bunch of bathwater.
Now, something new: there’ve been a decent number pictures of Trine with Molli, but we’ve decided to start posting some of her with me. So this isn’t a particularly good picture of Molli or of me, but it’s revolutionary in that it’s a picture of us together.
Molli just loved having her picture taken with daddy:
But during our next photo session, daddy got a little more adventurous and Molli got a little more wary:
This morning I got Molli to giggle a little during one of her belly-down sessions:
But it was later in the day that she went into the giggling fit described earlier. Here’s an establishing shot:
And here’s a closeup—best picture ever:
That’s it for now… believe it or not, that’s just a fraction of the pics we’ve taken since Thursday, but I think it’s a pretty good sample. Hope you enjoyed them!
(And, you know, feel free to resume commenting… it’s kind of lonely out here…)
Hooray! I finally figured out how to get a new name and password so I could come onto the blog.
I already wrote you an email telling you how cute the pictures are but let me tell you again – Molli is so cute I just want to hold her an hug her and kiss her endlessly. Must be hard to contain yourself. Can’t wait to hear that great laugh she has!
Molli is soooooooo cute…all of you seem so happy and that will make a big difference for her..
