Just for the record (pictures and movies to follow if I ever get a spare moment, not likely in the next few days with Trine at the hosp for a round of treatment), Maddie pulled herself up to standing for the first time yesterday.
She had been crawling around under the dining room table while Trine did some cooking or something int he kitchen. Trine would glance over at her every 30-40 seconds to be sure the girl wasn’t scooting into any trouble. Suddenly she glanced over and Maddie was standing on two legs, having hoisted herself up with the help of her sister’s Tripp-Trapp chair. I was not there, so I didn’t see it, but Trine got still photo and video evidence to show me. It’s impressive! — all the more so since she did it independent of anyone urging her on.
Maddie has also been sitting up more often, though unreliably, and with a tendency to succumb very quickly to gravity. And her acrobatics in the pram finally reached the point last weekend that we have begun strapping her down with the harness.
Embarrassing that she’s toying around with standing before I’ve had a chance to post the videos of her first bonafide efforts at crawling (she does sometimes crawl more now, but is still a scooter 80-90% of the time)… but most of you know how insanely busy I’ve been from 5am-11pm every day lately, and I can’t carve any more time out of my days. I’ve already had to give up sailing and my Danish lessons just to get my weekdays down to 18 hours!
Now your lives are going to get very interesting as Maddie begins to explore her world at greater and greater speeds and greater and greater reach. All my best and love. Dad
