Today, October 6, Maddie said her own name correctly for the first time. She pats herself proudly on the chest and says, “Maddie!” — then points around the room naming every other person and object in turn. Trine hasn’t told me the circumstances of the first usage yet, but I’ll share them when I get them.
Her vocabulary is growing so fast now she pops out new words all the time. (I speak of Maddie, not Trine.) Tonight alone she figured out “knee” and something close to cucumber (she already knew that one in Danish as “agurke,” for which she says, “gurka!”). Her cucumber word is actually something like “cubummer,” but I’ll take it.
New words every day — she did her first both-feet-off-the-ground jump last week and is getting a little better at it every day through constant practice. Mainly right now she is just in the throes of an obsession with Teletubbies, Lala in particular, whom she knows to live on all media — she will point to a computer, a television, or phone and demand, “LA-LAAAAAAAA!” with an imperative shriek. We always play the same DVD on tv, the same YouTube clip on our computers and phones. It’s not a bad out if you need some peace, and she has fun acting along with the Teletubbies, sleeping when they sleep, jumping when they jump… it’s just annoying how often she wants to see them. (Always.)
Would love to post pictures and catch up more on Molli Malou, too, but it’s late on a weeknight and I’m done. Just had to get that milestone onto the blog.
How wonderful. The pace will pick up even faster. Pop-pop
aww 🙂
