Hun Spiser!

We took Molli to Anne Greve today to ask about Molli’s growth, since we’d both been concerned that maybe Molli hadn’t been growing as quickly as she ought to be. She weighed in at 5980 grams (13.2 lbs) and is now 63cm (25.2″) long. We don’t know how normal that is because “the system was down.” She’ll let us know tomorrow, but based on what she saw she thought Molli was doing just fine, maybe more of her “growth” occuring lengthwise than weightwise.

She also gave us the green light to begin experimenting with solid foods.

Guess how long we waited to conduct that experiment?

Here’s the setup:

Here’s the moment of anticipation:

Here’s the big moment:

And here’s the payoff:

We filmed the whole thing on our analog video camera, so there’s plenty of footage of me taking pictures.

But the great transition has begun! (And when I say great, I obviously mean “slow.” We’ll be doling out no more than a teaspoon or two, once a day, for quite a while, and only very gradually working more food into her diet. And actually we’re not going to be giving her these kinds of fruit mixes in the future, but rather Rice or Corn meal, blended with Trine’s own milk. But we bought the wrong kind of meal today and were too impatient to feed Molli, so we used the bottle I’d bought yesterday as kind of a lark.)

  1. The pictures are historic – the written portion, Priceless. What a clever way to present Molli’s premiere dining experience. I’ll get the highchair cleaned and ready for your visit.

  2. wont be long before the plate of spaghetti pictures.you know, the ones where the kid has a biggg tomate sauce face and some of the pasta actually gets in her mouth..
with Pam it was coclate ice cream, she was concerned that people would see her with a big messy face….but it was cute…

  3. Cute pictures. I did some on-line research and Molli is in the 50% for weight and about the 95th for height (for a child born July 3rd).
Looks like she’s long and lean!!
    She’s certainly cute!
