Happy New Ear!

We have to start 2008 with some unfinished business from 2007.

First, here is the 2007 class picture. You can click on the pick for a full-size version. (It’s a scan of the actual school photo.)

For comparison, here are the 2006 and 2005 pix:

We also have some of Trine’s phone pictures from Christmas Eve. I don’t think I mentioned that Molli Malou completely dominated all of us at all the Christmas games we played. Games of skill and luck alike. In one game that Jørgen had designed, the object was to roll a marble down the table into one of four narrow slots in a box at the other end of the table. Each slot was valued either 1, 3, or 5 points. (I think: I no longer recall exactly.) The best of the adults got maybe 9 or 10 points out of the game: Molli Malou effortlessly rolled the marble into the 5-point slot 3 or 4 times in a row. We were all stupefied. It was one of the most remarkable things I’ve ever seen her do. And she did well enough at the other games to be the overall winner.

And in the normal Christmas dice game, she must have rolled about five sixes in a row:

She probably thought we were letting her win at these games, but we truly weren’t. In the end we had to persuade her to “share” her winnings, many of which were alcoholic beverages!

We made a trip to the zoo early in the new year and I’m happy to say this attempted kiss was never fulfilled.

Molli Malou is getting better at the hula hoop.

We went up to the home of a friend on the northern end of Sjælland for New Year’s Eve. Molli Malou was a joy the whole time.

You can click on the next picture to download the video of her new year greeting, which comes across as more of a new ear greeting. (And yes, she knows the difference, but she thinks Happy New Ear is much more fun than Happy New Year.)

The Patriots are 17-0 as I write this, and I am far from the only Pats fan in the household!

If you have quick time, you may be able to download this little video Trine took with her phone of Molli Malou’s first dance class of the new year (dance star 3gp). It’s in 3GP format, and for some reason only QuickTime players seem able to handle it without conversion. Anyway, Molli Malou was not supposed to be standing in the middle of the circle during the dance, but there she is. We’ll have to keep an eye on the prima donna tendencies.

Molli Malou was sent home sick from kindergarten Friday and was awfully sick most of Saturday, running a 103 fever and moaning in agony all day. She finally perked up after a dinner at morfar’s and woke up her usual rambunctious self, and then some, this morning.

I have archived and sorted all the 2007 pictures, now, and will get to work on the videos in the weeks ahead. (Immediate family — can expect their 2007 MolliMalou photo DVDs in the mail very soon!) It is a very, very fluid period for us right now, as Trine wraps up her final exams, I navigate my way through yet another reorganization at work (including yet another possible change of location, department, and title), and we begin trying to buy that house we’ve had our eye on… lots and lots to keep us busy, and all of this against a backdrop of a cold dark rainy winter without a whole lot of photo ops anyway. What I’m saying is, there may not be a whole lot of Molliblogging over the next few weeks.

Go Pats!
