Falling Leaves

I started writing this on November 1.  The day before had been Halloween and Maddie’s first day of børnehaven.

There aren’t many pictures to show since the last post — just a Dancing Girls sequence, some Halloween shots, and Maddie at the end of her first day of børnehaven.

Before she could begin børnehaven, of course, Maddie had to conclude vuggestue. You don’t get a degree or anything, and there’s no ceremony, but you don’t get a little write-up that the pedagogs share with your parents.

Trine brought Maddie’s home and shared it with me, and it was the scariest thing I saw this Halloween season.

“Your crazy daughter has a weak vocabulary and rattles off fixed phrases such as ‘orange rollercoaster too scary’ or ‘hej mormorjørgen’ repeatedly. She frequently stares out vacantly, trance-like, oblivious to her surroundings. She is clearly insane.”

Obviously that’s not exactly what it said, but it’s how it made me feel.  At first.  Then I reread it a couple of times, and I spent the weekend with Maddie, and most of the first two days of her børnehaven startup, and I was already laughing at my paranoia.

The pedagogs at børnhaven are wild about Maddie, say she’s a joy to have, is wonderfully behaved, and seems to be having a great time.  And she herself is clearly enjoying it.

Sic transit gloria vuggestue.

Meanwhile, she’s just getting cuter and cuter every day.  Like her big sister.  So let’s roll the pics and call ourselves caught up.

Great performance, girls!  Take a bow!

Encore, encore!  And sing, dammit!
