Here it is: a compilation of video from January through June of this year. (I’m optimistic about being able to provide more frequent videos for the rest of the year.) The file is 162MB, so do not download it if you’re not prepared for a file of that size. (Since most of you are on broadband and have plenty of storage capacity, however, I didn’t figure it would be a problem: now that I have a DVD burner I intend to up the quality of these videos so they’ll look better on television screens when played on home DVD-players.) So go ahead and start downloading: then I’ll tell you what I can about the video.
It’s about a five-minute video. Its gigantic size isn’t so much from length as it is from quality.
It’s a very cursory tour of Molli Malou from January through June. I would have liked to edit it a little more because I’m a compulsive editor and am physically pained by awkward cuts and edits, but there’s a lot I want to get done this week and let’s face it: I’m not going for the Palme D’Or here.
I tried to use my favorite snippets from the winter and spring, but also wanted the video to be representative of what Molli’s been up to, what she’s been doing and learning, so although I have a cumulative half hour of swimming video, for example, there’s just one shot of her at a swimming lesson.
Given the amount of video we have of her trying to sing “Twinkle Twinkle Little Star,” I think I may have to produce a companion video tracking her progress with this song from January until the present. (She now sings it melodiously from start to finish.)
Also, her biggest accomplishments this year have been linguistic, but you don’t see much evidence of that in this video. That’s because the better she’s gotten at speaking, the more she’s tended to clam up in front of the camera. It’s also because I liked the soundtrack and didn’t want to mess you up with cognitive dissonance by having too much chat over the music.
Blah blah blah. I didn’t even want to waste this much time on explanations and apologies. It’s just a fun little video of Molli Malou’s development from 18 to 24 months and I hope you like it.
(I’m especially hoping Nana likes it and that it gives her lots of good cheer as she recovers from her hip surgery!)
Not sure why but I could not successfully download. Will try again later. Sorry
