First there’s a video (20 MB avi) entitled Look, Daddy, No Feet! Start downloading now. It’s an uncut, unedited flick of Molli Malou riding her balance bike down the driveway and into the street without touching her feet to the ground once. She did it about a million times. I hadn’t even noticed she wasn’t using her feet until about the 500th time.
(And yes, of course she understands she can only do this when Daddy or Mor is in the street and giving her the all’s clear. One of the good things of her early life having been so urban is an automatic respect for the terrible power of automobiles.)
But that urban life is drawing to a close, as we get closer and closer to our move and spend more and more time up at the house. Last week should have been a mere three-day weekend, but thanks to the confluence of a teacher’s strike and some unusued vacations days I had lying around, we turned it into a five-day weekend.
I have a couple of pictures I want to share that are more than a week old, though…
The beauty…
And the beast…
I did a before and after on some of the yard work we did this weekend. Here’s the before:
Here’s the after:
But it ain’t the yardwork blog, is it? So here’s our subject, who one morning simply wandered off on her own and turned back up with the entire contents of the Princess Game adorning her.
While we do yard- and housework, Molli Malou digs fervently for worms. She holds them up and tells us how sweet and cute they are. She pets them and names them and eventually returns the squirming critters to a soft spot of grass “so they can be with their Daddy and mor.” She loves bugs, too.
As evening falls, she dons her faithful tomato hat to keep the chill at bay.
The best thing of the whole weekend? The discovery of a next door neighbor born within a month of Molli Malou. Her name is Mille. See her in the tent there? She’s right behind Molli Malou.
Well, okay, how about here?
Hopefully it’s the start of a beautiful friendship.
What a wonderful surprise. Lovely photos and the movie of no feet shows just how fast she is progressing. Can’t wait to see her in person.
