When we went to Tivoli on Wednesday, as I think I mentioned in the last post, Tivoli was very crowded. Since I had promised the girls we would go to Tivoli twice during Daddy’s week off, Molli Malou actually suggested we cut our visit short: “The lines are too long. Let’s just have an ice cream and enjoy walking around Tivoli and then go home. Then we can come again Friday before all the people show up and do lots of rides.”
And reader, that’s what we did.
We shipped out “early” Friday morning and got to Hovedbanegaarden by 10:45. We looked at the entrance to Tivoli (which opens at 11:00) and saw a big line of people queued up before the steel gates.
“I have an idea,” I said. “Let’s go to back into the trains station and visit Dunkin Donuts. I’ll get a big coffee and you guys can split a monster sugar bomb donut.”
And reader, that’s what we did.
We were crossing the street from Hovedbanegaarden as they opened the gates to Tivoli, so even after our Dunkin Donuts pause we were still among the first people into Tivoli.
Molli Malou and Maddie consequently got to enjoy something I never have: they got a ride all to themselves.
And it only got better from there: they went on more rides in less time than ever before. The sun shone. It was glorious. Molli Malou did Daemonen seven times, Maddie did Caravanen at least as many times. It was our best Tivoli trip ever, although we agreed to tell Trine it had been a horrible day so she wouldn’t be jealous.
Pictures from that awful day follow without further commentary.
It’s Saturday night, now. We’ve spent the whole day getting things ready for our trip… and barely made a dent in our to-do list. So it’s going to be a very busy couple of days, but by this time Tuesday we will be well on our way across the Atlantic!
Great photos. Better memories.
