It’s about 17:45 now, so Molli’s been about 34 hours without any tubal feeding. She’s eating very, very often, and we’re eager to see what she weighs tomorrow.
Although we have the option of taking her home tonight for her first trial home night, we’re going to spend one more night at the hospital with her to get our confidence to a slightly higher level. (We’re still at the point where when she’s noisy and cranky we’re anxious and frightened, and when she’s quiet and peaceful we poke her to be sure she’s still breathing. Don’t laugh, you all did it too.)
So one more night at Hvidovre, then tomorrow night will be her first overnight stay at the apartment. Once again, therefore, we’ll be off the grid from about 22:00 tonight until about this time tomorrow. Then, however, the three of us will have our first extended break from Hvidovre Hospital.
(Unbelievably, by the way, Molli already seems to be on the brink of outgrowing the adorable orange premie outfit from Bonnie and Sung. The laundry obviously helped that process along, but it’s still stunning to see Molli getting too big for anything!)
Hej Greg,
Thanks for the update and Im happy things are going so well. You’re wise to take another night at the hospital – gives you a chance to build up your confidence. And you’re right that we all went through it. You slept in our bedroom your first night home and I was awake all night listening to you breathe and fearful you’d stop. the next night I moved you out to the dining room!
And you were fine.
Sorry I’ve missed all your calls. Dad got me up to date yesterday. Today I had trouble understanding your message – I think our recorder is on its way out. I have trouble understanding most messages.
Hope you enjoyed your night and that you have a wonderful night tomorrow when the three of you are at home. Can’t be long now til that will be permanent.
Love and kisses to you, Trine and Molli.
Mom
