Safety Inspector Molli

First, I made a new video tonight. It’s about 2:40 in length, with a toe-tapping musical score, and is yours for just a one-time 12MB download. It’s called “ActiveGirl” and includes thematically-related clips from the past couple of days. Just click on the photo to begin download, then read the rest of the post while it downloads.

The next series of pictures is actually from last week, I think. Molli just grabbed one of my little notepads and began wandering around the house with it. I was just taking pictures for the hell of it, but a definite theme emerged: Safety Inspector Molli. Enjoy.

“I can’t believe I’ve got a whole nother room to inspect…”

“These guys are so not gonna pass inspection…”

“What in the name of God have they done to the flooring?”

“You can’t tell me they think this endtable is built to code!”

Yeah, I know, that was pretty lame. Sorry.

The reason we were bouncing “Play That Funky Music” around last week was that Trine had rewritten the lyrics to sing at Ditte’s wedding on Saturday, so she had to practice a lot. To get me in the act, we decided I would play the guitar. (Video of the performance is available, but only on VERY special request.) Naturally we needed a guitar suited to my skills, and as soon as the wedding was over it reverted to Molli’s ownership. She loved it.

It’s hard to see at this size, but Molli is actually testing one of the strings in this shot:

Here she is on the brink of a major development that we actually caught on film. First see the picture, then I’ll explain the development:

What she did is very simple: she brought the little ring, the top ring from her cone of stackable rings, into the kitchen, climbed on top of the industrial flour bag, and placed the ring into the top case of beer. Then she took it out. Then she put it back in. She gave big spokesmodel flourishes like the one picture every time she took it out. And Trine and I would say “in!” and “out!” to her actions. While I was videotaping, she actually started emulating us, and damned if she didn’t actually say “out” once or twice. I’ll need to see her use it in context another couple of times before it’s official, but I think we may have our first English language word! (And if you remind me, maybe I’ll remember to post that video.)

Of course, if you don’t know about the ring and all, it looks like she’s just going for the beer. That’s much more fun.

Hopefully your video has finished downloading by now… go watch it!

  1. She just gets prettier and prettier and funnier and funnier all the time. Who knew a one year old could have such a great sense of humor! Loved the pics and the video.

  2. I sure got a kick out of the video. She threw me for a loop as well. Does Inspector Molli have her license yet? What fun to see her develop.
