Snowbird in her Sunday Best

I think I may have figured out how to create a whole Molliblog post from my Gmail account.  We’ll see.

Early last week I came home and Trine intercepted me before I could reach Molli.

"I didn’t even notice," she said.  "I just looked away for a minute, I didn’t think she could do any harm with it."

I had no idea what "it" was.  I was too frightened to ask.  Trine told me anyway: it was Vaseline.  She’d taken Molli’s temperature and had left the Vaseline where Molli could get at it.  Next thing she knew, the girl had covered herself in it.  Including her hair.  For three or four days, even after repeated washing, Molli’s hair looked like this:

(And if you hit it, it made a knocking sound!)

Sunday there was a brunch in honor of Jørgen’s birthday, which is actually–today!  (Sunday itself was PopPop’s birthday.)  We dressed Molli up for the occassion.  We don’t do that often, so there are plenty of pix.

That’s not an actual egg in her hand–just some kind of egg toy full of sand or something that goes shucka-shucka when you shake it.  Here’s a closer shot:

And an adorable shot with the guest of honor:

…who subsequently brought Molli over to the stereo, the buttons of which enthrall her.  Here she is watching Jørgen slowly bring his finger to the power button–

…apparently having forgotten that the volume was set to 11!  That thing blared out a wall of sound, and this was the reaction:

We decided Molli was big enough to try walking home.

But she was easily diverted.

And enthralled.

…and her usual dangerously adventurous self.  (Of course this had to happen when she was wearing a dress, pretty shoes, and thin tights for the first time all winter.)

It wasn’t as cold as this picture makes it look, but I love this picture.  The focus is great and the colors and textures are fantastic in its full size.  (It’s the first desktop wallpaper I’ve used in 18 months that doesn’t feature Molli.)

  1. Molli looks so old! She really doesn’t look like a baby anymore.
It’s kind of sad really. I don’t want all these girls to keep growing!

BTW, (next time)use cornstarch to get out vaseline.
pat it in, leave it for a while and then wash. The cornstarch will absorb the vaseline and the cornstarch will be washed out by the shampoo.

  2. Erk… probably you can’t see the pictures since this experiment doesn’t appear to have worked.

    I’m on it.
